Local Tourist Ottawa featured on CBC Radio

19 Feb

91.5 FM in Ottawa

Wow – what a great week!

Yesterday morning, CBC Radio’s Rebecca Zandbergen welcomed me into the studio to talk a little bit about Local Tourist Ottawa.

I also had a chance to meet Dave Woodbridge, the creator of Outdoor Ottawa, and the three of us had a great 10 minute Q&A about our projects, the city’s thriving blogging community, as well as the power of social networking and an overall strong content marketing strategy.

It was a great chat!

Listen to Jessey's interview on CBC Radio

I’d just like to say a big thanks to Associate Producers Laura Osman and Jeanne Armstrong who reached out to Local Tourist Ottawa for this segment, as well as the folks at CBC who posted the audio clip up really quickly so everyone who missed the show could catch it later.

If you’d like to listen to the interview, please click here.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Local Tourist Ottawa named one of OttawaStart’s 26 essential blogs

18 Feb

On behalf our Local Tourists, we just wanted to send a quick shout out to Glen Gower of OttawaStart, who earlier this week named Local Tourist Ottawa one of the site’s 26 Essential Ottawa Blogs.

We’re certainly in great company! Ottawa has a thriving blogging community and we are so thrilled to be a part of it.

It has been just three months since we started this site, and we’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response and the continuous stream of submissions. We’ve had Local Tourists write on a huge range of topics, including spots to get a great meal, museums, sports, art, theatre, and of course, more obscure topics such as the hunt for the best pho or Ottawa’s cupcake craze.

All in all, we’ve had a fantastic start.

We said from the beginning that this blog is about one thing: getting out, enjoying the best of this city, and sharing it with everyone else. LTOttawa is a compilation of the authors’ vow to participate more in our own community, as well as our readers’ contributions: as we all explore our city, we encourage everyone else to do the same.

We’re always excited to welcome guest bloggers – in fact, that is the whole point of this project. So, if you’d like to become a Local Tourist and contribute – please don’t hesitate to get in touch by using the form below. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks again to OttawaStart, and we hope you all have a great weekend in Ottawa!
